IMDB Hacked? Dark Knight Worst Movie Ever

July 29, 2008 Leave a comment

Word is spreading around that IMDB was hacked this weekend. This supposed hack has now put ‘The Dark Knight’ as the number 1 worst movie of all time as well as the top movie of all time.
I just quickly went onto IMDB and looked at the list, but ‘The Dark Knight’ isn’t the worst movie of all time, so dam, I missed it!! IMDB probably already fixed this up or maybe it was a glitch with pro accounts hmmm.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

I saw the preview for ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’ and I can already tell it is going to be a lot different than the short story or the movie that was made in the 1950s or so. From watching the preview, it seems like an alien force is attacking earth as a giant ball of destruction sucking everything up in its path or maybe that’s just the alien’s space ship wreaking havoc on America. Very superb casting with Keanu Reaves as the alien, Klaatu. I’d say he’s perfect for the role; he exhibits no emotion and his face is all blank with no expression, pretty much like all his other movie roles (except for ‘Bill and Ted’s excellent Adventure’ and maybe ‘Johnny Mnemonic’). The casting of Jennifer Connelly could have been better. She doesn’t really fit in with this movie. That’s what the trailer portrays though at least in my opinion. It is not clear about what her character Helen, is doing. In the trailer, it first shows her as an ordinary civilian surprised about the alien encounter and then next thing you know, she actually works for the government? Obviously somehow Helen and Klaatu will join forces and do something as they both are the top billing of this movie. Yea, he probably takes a liking to her and she tries to discover why he is on earth and they go on a crazy adventure to stop this giant ball of destruction.

If the movie follows the plot of the short story, it definitely would not fit in with today’s society. It is still relevant to us as the short story actually was about politics and war and warring/rival countries taking their battles into space. We haven’t been able to colonize the moon yet, and we just landed on Mars about two months ago so the whole plot is still relevant technically speaking but it definitely won’t swing with today’s people – what we want is action packed explosions and destruction buildings and stuff, something only Michael Bay could do.

It’s obvious from the trailer that they changed a couple of major things. They will still probably keep the main plot in tact and create more major differences. From what it seems though for once that deviating from the original story will be a good thing. We’ll have to see for sure.
